Ray Delgado started guiding Coues hunters out of his truck in 2004, on the same ridges his grandfather ran cattle on. He has never operated anywhere else, and he has never taken more than six mule deer hunters in a season. Both of those are on purpose.
We do not lease country in three states. We do not sell hunts we have not scouted. From September on, somebody from this outfit is on these mountains every week — running cameras, sitting glassing points at first light, and keeping a notebook on which bucks made it through the summer. By the time you land in Tucson, we already know where we are going the first morning and what the second and third options are if the wind is wrong.
What that buys you is honesty. If it has been a dry year and the deer are not there, we will say so in July and give you your deposit back rather than sell you a hard week.
